Course Selection 2021-2022
SOPHOMORE - CLASS OF 2023
Beginning in March our sophomores will start to plan their coursework for the 2021-2022 school year. We have heard from our parents and through this feedback our counselors are making some changes to our course selection process. Counselors are focused on building strong relationships with our families and want to involve all stakeholders in this process. As scholars reflect on the classes they would like to take next year, counselors and families are in the position to help them understand their strengths, reflect on their current 4-year plan, and align their course selections to put them in the best place to reach their post-secondary goals.
Prior to their meeting, scholars and families should log in to the SchoolBrains Community Portal, look through the course levels that were recommended by teachers and begin to identify possible electives. Scholars can access these recommendations by following step-by-step directions or by watching a short video tutorial. Additionally, the counseling department has created several planning worksheets for scholars to help them map out both required and elective courses.
Sophomores will meet with their counselors from March 8th through March 19th during their US History I class according to the following schedule: Class of 2023 Course Selection Schedule. On their scheduled day, scholars will meet individually with counselors either in-person or virtually. These meetings last approximately 10-15 minutes. Scholars and counselors will review and select courses needed for graduation purposes as well as essential courses that align to individual goals and interests. We invite parents/guardians to partner with our counselors as they meet with scholars to review course recommendations and select their options for the coming year. If you would like to participate in your scholar’s meeting with their counselor, please complete this attached form: Course Selection Meeting Request (Sophomores). Once the meeting begins, the counselor and/or scholar will call you at the number you indicate in the form.
read the morning announcements on our website for more information.
